Many restaurants are not only serving up food, but are also offering incentives for customers to help with social issues as well. “Give a pint, get a pint” is the new campaign tagline for Bonfils Blood Center during the month of January, which is also National Blood Donor Month.
Several restaurants in the Denver area are also participating in the program and are now offering a free pint of beer for those customers who choose to donate a pint of blood at Bonfils. Donors will receive a voucher for a free pint of beer that is redeemable at any Rock Bottom Restaurant, Old Chicago or Gordon Biersch Brewery through the month of January when they donate a pint of blood. The blood donations can help those needing blood after an accident or those undergoing treatment for cancer or those suffering with AIDS.
Officials at Bonfils thought the new campaign would both increase public awareness in the need for blood donations and increase the number of those who choose to donate. Blood donations have a tradition of falling off sharply just after the holidays. Bonfils is hoping to change it with the new campaign.
The added incentive of getting a free beer out of the deal has been well received. Those participating in the Pint for a Pint program will also get a chance to win a trip to Mexico.
